He's back!

This is the original bad owl.....

and he's back......

I also took a picture every so often while drawing this one to create a little gif.

This was a good 10+ hours of inking on this one, but it was well worth it.

Bath Time for the bear and the cat

The bear and the cat seem to be a recurring theme. Don't ask why.

We used to have to do pointillism in elementary school (what up Bearisto!) and I had forgotten how much I actually hated it. That being said, I think it is worth the potential carpal tunnel syndrome when I look at the outcome.

Obviously its not all pointillism, only a little bit but even that was painful.

1977

When home at Christmas this year I found this old picture of my parents from the 70's and thought it looked really cool. Every now and then I have this need to do something realistic, maybe to proove to myself I still can or I just need to get it out of my system.

I literally just sketched it out in pencil straight onto the wood panels and kept drawing and shading it. I have no idea what I was going to do with it; if I was going to paint it or what. Then I started just staining it with acrylics for a bit of colour. I liked the way it turned out.

The end.

Craft Fairs 2011

I signed up for 2 more craft fairs in Brighton this year as well. The second one fell through due to poor organisation. It was super disappointing as tom and I drove all the way to Brighton for it, stood out in the freezing weather for an hour, to find out there wasn't going to be anyone to open the doors to let us in. We went Christmas shopping instead.

The first one went really really well though and I doubled my sales of my first one last year.

Instead of putting out some of my bigger original drawings and my stacking dolls (which I am not super keen to sell, so the price is pretty high on those), I made more prints, more small 2dee drawings, mugs, and put out free stickers.

The end.

Bear Faces

I had this weird little wooden box thing that I was trying to think of something really clever to paint on it and one day while we were driving somewhere, it came to me....

More 2dee-ness

I had bought a load of cheap glassless frames from Ikea with intentions of painting to frames to sell. Instead I decided to make them all into little 2dee shadow boxes in hopes of selling them at the upcoming craftfairs. I did 3 with Fox Nap ones and one of the Forest Cat. They all ended up selling so I did 2 more fox Naps, 2 more Forest Cats and then did 2 Forest owls.

Finger Perch ... 2dee art

I am not sure what made me decide to do one of these shadow type boxes, I must have seen one somewhere and made a mental note somewhere. I think it turned out really well.

Decided to do 2 different coaster designs for these ones as well because I thought the background might be too overpowering when not 2 dimensional like the original.

I prefer the ones with the white background.

Buddies

Yet again another Ikea purchase – pencil holder – owl buddies

A Chase.. Mirror and coasters

When I was smaller than I am now, my Nana had this pop-up Beatrix Potter book and one of the illustrations was an aerial view of foxes chasing Jemimah Puddleduck(?) in a circle. This image always stuck out in my mind and apparently my little brother's as well, because as soon as he saw it he immediately said it reminded him of the same thing.

I painted these onto a little wood frame.

Then thought they would be really cool as circular coasters.

So did a bit a photoshop magic with the help of mr. tom, and printed these up.

The end.

Fox Box

I luff foxes
Another Ikea purchase.

I have no idea what it is supposed to be, but sort of looks like one of those things you would eat japanese food out of. So naturally I thought, it needs a painting of cat riding bears in a race.

Never ending cat race.

Trees go ping....

Ilana bought a set of wooden drawers from Ikea and asked me to paint it for her....

Autumn 2011

Between winter 2010 and autumn 2011 I did nothing but wedding related crafting. I might share some of that stuff later, but maybe not. Oh! I did some art for the I am Joy festival again. They asked me to do some artwork for their flyers and to come up with a t-shirt idea... Might also share those things later as well, but maybe not.

These were the first two little drawings I did when life got back to normal after the wedding.

The Offering

 The Giving

The little interactions between the two characters are amuse to me.
